Data Point: iTunes Selling or Renting 50,000 Movies a Day

Apple's iTunes Store could sell and rent more than 18 million movies this year, according to this piece from Variety.

From the piece:

"In the first week, they had 20 times the volume of the next biggest customer, and it didn't go down after that," said an exec overseeing digital at a rival major.

Who's number two? That's hard to say, since no one else releases data. Whoever it is, it's clearly a distant number two -- but I'd guess Unbox, or perhaps CinemaNow.
