Tuesday links: Piracy, box office estimates, remakes

- Wired News has a piece headlined, `Will Digital Cinema Can Pirates?' Brad Hunt of the MPAA talks hypothetically about how digital projectors might thwart thieves with camcorders.

- Gabriel Snyder of Variety has two neat pieces in Slate: `How do Hollywood box-office estimates work?' and `Why is Hollywood so obsessed with remakes?' I wish the latter piece were longer and a bit more detailed. But the piece on box-office estimates is really enlightening.

- Anne Thompson of The Hollywood Reporter has a list of the impact players of 2005, which includes Steve Jobs, Mark Cuban, Todd Wagner, and Steven Soderbergh.
